A rich man was very upset by some bad habit of his son.
Whenever he asked the son to leave the habit, he would get only one answer, “I am so young now.. gradually I will leave this habit!” But he never tries to give up the habit.
In those days a Mahatma was visiting the village, when the man came to know about his fame, he immediately reached to him and started telling his problem. Mahatma ji listened to him and said, “Okay, bring your son to the garden tomorrow morning, where I will tell you the remedy. ,
The next morning the father and son reached the garden.
Mahatma ji said to the son, “Let us both take a walk in the garden.” And he slowly started moving forward.
While walking, Mahatma ji suddenly stopped and said to the son, “Can you uproot this little plant?”
“Yes, what’s the big deal in this.”, and saying so, the son easily uprooted the plant.
Then they went ahead and after a while the Mahatma, pointing to a slightly bigger plant, said, “Can you uproot it too?”
As if the son was enjoying all this, he immediately started uprooting the plant. This time he took some hard work, but after a lot of effort, he uprooted it too.
They went ahead again and after some time again Mahatma ji, pointing towards a gudah tree, asked the son to uproot it.
The son grabbed the trunk of the tree and started pulling it vigorously. But the tree was not even taking its name to move. When the tree did not budge even after many efforts, the son said, “Hey! It is so strong that it is impossible to uproot it.
The Mahatma ji explained to him lovingly and said, “Son, the same happens with bad habits, when they are new it is easy to leave them, but as they get old it becomes difficult to leave them.” “
The son understood his point and decided to leave the habit from today itself.
